A pitch video that sounds like you on your best day
Accelerator applications, investor updates, the video link in a cold email. The pitch video is now a standard founder artifact, and the gap between “confident” and “first take at 11pm” is mostly workflow.
01
Write the pitch as sections
Problem, insight, traction, ask. Four sections, a few sentences each. The teleprompter keeps you on message without the thousand-yard read-aloud stare.
02
Take each section until it lands
Nobody nails the traction numbers on take one. Record until one take sounds like you mean it. The earlier takes never leave your machine.
03
Cut the hedges in the transcript
“Sort of”, “basically”, “I think”. Delete them as words and they disappear from the video. Your pitch tightens without touching a timeline.
04
Ship a real file
Clean audio, captions, your slides or product behind you, exported locally in 4K. Attach it, embed it, or host it wherever the application form wants.
So um, this is the new billing page. Like, every invoice lives here now. Uh, search works across all of them.
The edit that used to take an afternoon: delete the words, ship the video.
Field notes from the studio
- 90 seconds is the sweet spot for application videos.
- Show the product within the first 20 seconds. Investors watch demos, not faces.
- Look at the lens when stating the ask; the eye-tracking teleprompter makes that natural.
- Re-record the hook last, once you’ve warmed up.
