Privacy policy.

Last updated July 14, 2026

Reframe (“Reframe,” “we,” “us”) is operated from Australia and used by people all over the world. This policy explains what we collect through the Reframe website and desktop application, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it — wherever you're reading this from.

The short version: your recordings never leave your computer unless you export and share them yourself. What we do collect is mostly account, billing, and technical information needed to run the service. Details below.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign up or log in, our authentication provider (Kinde) collects your name, email address, and basic profile information from whichever method you use to sign in.

Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, your subscription status and plan tier are recorded by our billing provider (Kinde Billing, processed via Stripe). We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly.

Newsletter information. If you subscribe to updates, we (via Resend) keep your email address and your subscription status until you unsubscribe.

Desktop app entitlement data. The desktop app checks in with our servers to confirm your plan and unlock the features it includes. This exchange covers your account and plan status — not the contents of anything you record or edit.

Technical data. Our hosting provider (Netlify) and other infrastructure automatically log standard technical information — IP address, browser and device type, and request timestamps — for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the site running.

We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before doing so.

What we don't collect

Recording, transcription, AI cleanup, and export all happen on your device. Your footage, transcripts, and exported videos are not uploaded to our servers as part of normal use, and we don't have access to them. That's a deliberate product decision, not just a policy one.

How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the website and desktop application
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To respond to support requests you send us
  • To send newsletter updates you've opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • To comply with legal obligations

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Reframe, each acting under their own privacy and security commitments:

  • Kinde — authentication and subscription billing
  • Stripe — payment processing (underlying Kinde Billing)
  • Resend — newsletter and transactional email delivery
  • Netlify — website hosting

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Reframe, our users, or the public.

International data transfers

Because we operate from Australia, use providers based in other countries, and serve users worldwide, your information may be processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on our providers' own safeguards and contractual protections for cross-border transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep account and billing information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see “Your rights” below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information. Contact us (details below) to exercise any of them.

Australia. While the Australian Privacy Principles formally bind larger organisations, we apply their standards as a matter of practice: you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we've mishandled your information.

European Economic Area & UK. Under the GDPR/UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California. Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction of it, and to non-discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Children's privacy

Reframe is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, and we lean on established providers (Kinde, Stripe, Netlify) for the parts of the stack that carry the most sensitive data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Cookies

We currently use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences like light/dark theme. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies today. If that changes, this policy and, where required, an on-site consent mechanism will be updated first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with an updated date, and if a change is material, we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know directly.
